GUWAHATI –Assam Education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu has announced that the state’s summer vacation will begin from June 25 to July 25,

Due to the flood situation, the summer vacation was delayed by a few days.

Pegu stated further that summer vacations in schools typically start in July week, but they decided to prepare for this as many schools are still closed in some districts because of flooding.

Further, the education minister stated that ongoing examinations would end on June 25, after which schools will be closed for summer vacation.

For the benefit of both students and teachers, the minister also encouraged private education institutions to follow the same guidelines.

The Gauhati University (GU), which was earlier announced that it would postpone the Post Graduate Examination under Gauhati University, and its affiliated colleges.

Due to the incessant rains in Assam, which caused flooding in many parts of the state, both the GUIST and I.Com exams were also postponed.

The university will soon announce new dates for the examinations scheduled to take place on June 21 and 22, and has canceled the exam schedule.

Assam Govt prepones summer vacations; schools close from June 25 to July 25

Guwahati – In view of the catastrophic flood situation in Assam, Education Minister Ranoj Pegi announced on Thursday that schools will be closed for the summer from June 25 to July 25, in keeping with the Assam Floods.

According to the minister, the state’s flood situation was so bad that it took a few days for the summer vacation to be prepared

The minister stated that summer vacations in schools start in July 1 t week, but they decided to prepare this time since many schools are still closed in flood-prone areas.

The education minister stated that the current examinations would end on June 25, after which schools will be closed for summer vacation.

He also urged private educational institutions to follow this order for students and teachers.

In the meantime, more than 54.7 lakh people were affected in 4941 villages spread across 32 districts and 112 revenue circles of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.

Districts still affected by flood waters include Bajali and Baksa as well as Bongaigaon and Cachar.

There are currently over 2.71 million people sheltering in these relief centers and 845 relief camps.
