PM-KISAN: Over 26,000 farmers found ineligible in Maharashtra’s Raigad

Alibag 23 April (PTI) More than 26,000 farmers from the Raigad district of Maharashtra are not eligible to participate in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. A substantial sum of 11 crores deposited into their accounts under the Central government scheme must be recouped an official of the senior level said on Friday.

The PM-KISAN scheme is a central sector scheme wherein the amount of Rs. 6,000 is transferred to the accounts of banks with three equal installments each year for marginal and small farmers who own land between two and two hectares. The scheme was officially launched on February 24, 2019. Over 26,000 farmers in the Raigad district of Maharashtra are not eligible for the Pradhan Mantri San Samman Nidhi Yojana, and a substantial amount of around 11 crores is deposited into their accounts under the central government scheme is been reclaimed according to a senior official.

“A number of 26.618 farms were identified as ineligible. A total amount of Rs 11.3 crore must be recouped from them. It was discovered that 4,509 farmers have to pay income tax and only an amount of 2.20 crore of the total amount of 3.81 crores was reclaimed from them. A sum of 7.65 crores is required to be recouped from 22109 farmers, but only 34.54 lakh has been recovered. 34.54 lakh has been reclaimed,” said Raigad tehsildar Sachin Shejal. PTI COR BNM
